In & Out of Control

I was reading through kokoro ewa's blog today and I read a part where she was explaining something about how her parents met and all, and she said something in the line of "...the great I AM already had everything planned out. His ways are truly not our ways." Uhmm... seriously?

This brings me to the question of: Who is in control? You? Me? He? She? Them? They? What ever happened to "FREE WILL"? Another hooks? I know many of us have answers to these questions, but I beseech you to ask yourself... Are you the one actually answering the question? Of course many of you will say YES! But have this as a food for thought: "The greatest trick he ever played was to convince you that he is you." Fill in the blank for "he".

If there is already a plan, whose plan is the positive one, and whose plan is the negative one? What is your role in this? If all the decisions you make are guided by some unknown force (insert who you belive in here or who you don't), then it is not your decision (neither is it your life). If we follow that belief system, then everything we ever did, right or wrong, was done for that unknown. In that case, we are no better than the Television set whose job is to display visually or auditory the waves it recieves.

If FATE & DESTINY rules, then, regardless of what you do, your control is in someone else's hand. I know you won't feel comfortable about this especially when this someone is you-know-who!

A thing for thought:
Our experiences defines what we do and what we don't. Like it or not, NOTHING IS ABSOLUTE!

I have contemplated this question of Destiny and free will numerous times and I have resolved that it is just one of those complicated things man's simple mind might never be able to grasp.

I agree with you. I am of the belief that No man has seen GOD, and no man KNOWS GOD!

We are only but part of HIS creation. If we know GOD then HIS mystery will be known to us, and therefore we loose his essence.

I think God, Jehovah, Allah, Buddah whatever deity you worship endows you and has a beautiful 'getout clause'.

It's called freewill. (How beautiful)

God, (the generic term for the head of whatever path you chose) has bestowed on us the benefit of using whatever we have to determine what we need, yet like a child who is too old to still be suckling at the breast, we refuse to let go and 'let God', let be.

I think we like to leave things to chance because we really don't trust our own decision making. I also think this is becuase of the yard sticks by which we use to measure the effectiveness of our decision making.
Largely in life, success is measured by monetary gain, how many people look up to you, want to be you, admire you, envy you, e.t.c.

EVen our happiness is largely measured by someone else's yardstick. Do they compliment me on snagging the beautiful girl, do they compliment me on maintaining a peaceful household?, do they compliment the way my kids turned out e.t.c.
It's rarely, how do I feel, despite what everyone else says.

And whilst we are at it, how come God is a man?. I've never understood this, God is the giver of life, surely if 'he' created something in his own image then it would be something capable of birthing life.
Now personally I think God is neither man nor woman but a being, and an all powerful, omnipresent being, so I always feel to honour GOd, one must use a collective word.. here's where othe languages get it right, like French and Yoruba, where you refer to god effectively as 'they' and gender neutral words such a 'eledumara', 'oluwa' 'dieu' e.t.c.

But hey I'm rambling, as always I have more questions than answers I guess.

Your life is like a bicycle u ride. How fast u pedal and in wat direction depends a lot on u...though sometimes it seems God might push u into the ditch that He's Word may be true...remember He hardened Pharoah's Heart!

@Endi: You think "He" did? If he did, then there is one mystery we have to solve. Is "He" a joker or a poker player? To all those who seek, shall they find... Keep an open mind?

much respect! blog on

I will not try to convince you otherwise. We all should have and be able to voice our opinions. Do not ever doubt there is God. He is there even when we don't see him.

Nice one... i like the way you write and also think, veryradical and unconventional, which is a refreshing change from the streo-type we get around here in niaja.. everyone seems to think the same way.. safe.
we have been given a free will, right from our first father.. adam.. if God hadn't given Him that free will...
... it's kind of confusing but there are exceptions to every rule... i think.. but hey, what do i know? lol
